Letter from Reunion Committee
May 2014
Dear Glenbard West Class of ’64 Alum,
50 years! Can it really be that long since we graduated from high school? The Reunion Committee hopes you’re as excited as we are about the prospect of coming to a reunion weekend this fall to reminisce and celebrate the time we spent together in the castle on the hill.
The 50-Year Reunion will occur over Homecoming Weekend, Friday and Saturday, October 17 and 18. The first event will be a casual get-together beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, October 17 at Reserve 22, the restaurant at the Village Links of Glen Ellyn, 485 Winchell Way (just off Park Boulevard and south of Roosevelt Road). Schoolmates from the Classes of ’61 to ’67 also are welcome to attend. Cost will be $25 per person at the door. Light snacks will be served, and there will be a cash bar.
Saturday morning, October 18, we’ll gather to march in the traditional Homecoming parade. The Homecoming game will be played that afternoon, and during the day, tours of Glenbard may be available. More information on the parade, game and tours will be available at the Friday night social and on our class website, www.glenbardclassof64.com, as details are finalized.
The main event will take place Saturday night, October 18 at Glen Oak Country Club, which has a 100-year history in Glen Ellyn, making it even older than us! Our group is sure to have a memorable and fun evening in this inviting setting. A cocktail hour (cash bar) will begin at 6:30 p.m., with dinner, dancing—and some surprises and maybe even prizes—to follow. Cost for the evening is $75 per person, payable in advance. The deadline for making reservations is August 1.
For those of you from out of town, here are three local hotels to consider: Crowne Plaza Lombard, 1250 Roosevelt Rd., Glen Ellyn, 877-270-1393; The Westin Lombard, 70 Yorktown Center, Lombard, 630-719-8000; and Embassy Suites Lombard, 707 E. Butterfield Rd., Lombard, 630-969-7500.
Enclosed are reservation forms for the reunion, as well as an information form that we’d like you to complete and return even if you can’t attend the reunion. The information will be organized into a directory that will be provided to you at the reunion (cost included in the banquet fee) or may be mailed to you upon request after the reunion for $10 each. The deadline for submitting directory information is August 1.
We’ve also included a list of 1964 alumni for whom we have no email or mailing addresses. If you have contact information for them, please send it to glenbard64@gmail.com. In addition, included in this mailing is a list of those classmates who have passed away. If you know of others, please let us know at the above email address.
Also, remember that the Class of ’64 has a website, www.glenbardclassof64.com, with reunion details that will be updated periodically with new information.
Here’s hoping we see many of you in October!
